Set up your custom domain and configure regional settings for your community.

Subdomain vs Custom Domain​

Default Subdomain​

Every community gets a free subdomain:

  • Format: yourcommunity.uni8.ai
  • Always available
  • SSL included

Custom Domain​

Use your own domain:

  • Format: community.yourdomain.com or yourdomain.com
  • More professional
  • Better branding

Setting Up Custom Domain​

Prerequisites​

  • Own a domain name
  • Access to domain DNS settings
  • Community on a paid plan

Step 1: Add Domain in Uni8​

  1. Go to Settings > Domain
  2. Click Add Custom Domain
  3. Enter your domain (e.g., community.yourdomain.com)
  4. Click Add

Step 2: Configure DNS​

Add these records at your domain registrar:

For subdomain (community.yourdomain.com):

For root domain (yourdomain.com):

A@(IP provided in settings)

Step 3: Verify and Activate​

  1. Wait for DNS propagation (up to 48 hours)
  2. Return to Settings > Domain
  3. Click Verify
  4. Once verified, click Set as Primary

SSL Certificate​

  • SSL is automatically provisioned
  • May take up to 24 hours after verification
  • Certificate renews automatically

Troubleshooting Domain​

Domain Not Verifying​

  • Check DNS records are correct
  • Wait for full propagation (48 hours)
  • Clear DNS cache
  • Try different DNS checker tool

SSL Not Working​

  • Ensure domain is verified first
  • Wait 24 hours after verification
  • Check no conflicting SSL settings at registrar

Currency Settings​

Setting Your Currency​

  1. Go to Settings > Payments
  2. Select Currency
  3. Choose from supported currencies

Note: Changing currency doesn't convert existing prices.

Language Settings​

Community Language​

Set the default language:

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Select Default Language
  3. Choose language
  4. Click Save

Setting Timezone​

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Select Timezone
  3. Choose your timezone

Date & Time Format​

Customizing Format​

  1. Go to Settings > General
  2. Configure:
    • Date format (DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, etc.)
    • Time format (12-hour or 24-hour)
  3. Click Save

Multi-language Content​

Creating Content in Multiple Languages​

If your community serves multilingual audiences:

  1. Create separate pages for each language
  2. Use language-specific URL slugs
  3. Link between language versions
  4. Consider separate spaces per language

  • Use native speakers for quality
  • Consider AI translation as starting point
