Who Can Moderate?

Assigning Moderators

Making Someone a Moderator

  1. Go to Members
  2. Find the member
  3. Click Edit
  4. Change role to Moderator
  5. Assign specific spaces (optional)
  6. Click Save

Space-Specific Moderators

Limit moderator access to specific spaces:

  1. Edit the moderator's profile
  2. Under Moderation Scope
  3. Select specific spaces
  4. They can only moderate those spaces

Content Moderation

Reviewing Posts

  1. Go to the space
  2. Find the post
  3. Click ... menu
  4. Options:
    • Edit - Modify content
    • Hide - Remove from view
    • Delete - Permanently remove
    • Pin - Keep at top
    • Feature - Highlight

Hiding vs Deleting

ActionEffect
HideRemoved from view, can be restored
DeletePermanently removed, cannot be restored

Recommendation: Hide first, delete only if necessary.

Comment Moderation

For individual comments:

  1. Find the comment
  2. Click ... menu
  3. Options:
    • Edit - Fix issues
    • Hide - Remove from view
    • Delete - Permanently remove

Member Moderation

Warning Members

Before banning, consider warnings:

  1. Go to member profile
  2. Click Send Message
  3. Explain the issue
  4. Document the warning

Suspending Members

Temporarily restrict access:

  1. Go to Members
  2. Find the member
  3. Click ... menu
  4. Select Suspend
  5. Set duration
  6. Add reason (internal)
  7. Confirm

Banning Members

Permanently remove someone:

  1. Go to Members
  2. Find the member
  3. Click ... menu
  4. Select Ban
  5. Add reason (internal)
  6. Choose to notify them
  7. Confirm

Unbanning

To restore a banned member:

  1. Go to Members > Banned
  2. Find the member
  3. Click Unban

Moderation Queue

What is the Queue?

Central place to review flagged content:

  • Member-reported content
  • Auto-flagged content
  • Pending approvals

Accessing the Queue

  1. Go to Moderation in sidebar
  2. View pending items
  3. Take action on each

Processing Items

For each queued item:

  • Approve - Publish/allow
  • Reject - Hide/remove
  • Escalate - Flag for admin review

Reporting System

How Members Report

Members can report:

  1. Click ... on any post/comment
  2. Select Report
  3. Choose reason
  4. Submit

Report Reasons

Handling Reports

  1. Review in moderation queue
  2. Check the content
  3. Check reporter's history

Auto-Moderation

Content Filters

Automatic content screening:

  1. Go to Settings > Moderation
  2. Enable content filters
  3. Configure sensitivity
  4. Set action (flag, hide, or block)

What Gets Filtered

  • Profanity and slurs
  • Spam patterns
  • External links (optional)
  • Suspicious content

Community Guidelines

Creating Guidelines

Write clear community rules:

  1. Go to Settings > Community Guidelines
  2. Write your guidelines
  3. Include:
    • Expected behavior
    • Prohibited content
    • Consequences
  4. Publish

Displaying Guidelines

  • Link in registration flow
  • Pin in welcome space
  • Reference in moderation messages
